Happy Monday! Here is what we are doing this week:
French This week, we are continuing to read "Sophie lance et compte." We are also restarting our French guided reading, so books will be appearing in homework bags for anyone who would like to practice at home. In grammar, we are continuing our exploration of the verb "Faire," as well as looking at pronouns and how to use them in sentences. English In English, we are working on our informational texts. We will be starting some book clubs, using our informational texts.

Welcome back! It was so great seeing everyone today. We have a short week ahead, but there are a few upcoming dates and new things we will be working on. French This week, we are being introduced to informational writing. Students will start informational texts on things that they are "experts" in. In grammar, we will be looking at pronouns. We will be keeping it pretty simple (je, tu, il, etc), but here is a page with activities I'll be using: https://www.alloprof.qc.ca/fr/eleves/bv/francais/le-pronom-f1182 We will also be looking at the verb "Faire" in present tense. Check out "Vocabulary words of the Week" for a copy. English We are also looking at informational texts in English. Students are starting to check out Google Slides as a way of presenting informational texts. On Monday, we played with Google Slides on Google Classroom. Students can go back there to practice different skills. We are also looking at contractions. We will work on this list for this week and next, and we will build it as a class. Check back "Vocabulary Words of the Week" for our list near the end of the week. Maths We will quickly review fractions this week. I didn't get a chance to evaluate students before the break, so I will informally evaluate them this week. Students should be able to represent fractions with pictures, numbers lines, and names, as well as find fractions of a set. They should also be able to compare fractions with like denominators or like numerators. I find they struggle the most with fractions on a number line, so here's some worksheets they could practice with (there are about 20 of them, so you can pick and choose!): www.funwithmama.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Fractions-on-a-Number-Line-Worksheets-1.pdf Sciences humaines
We are studying the map of Prince Edward Island. Students will use paper maps and online maps. We will eventually be working on Google maps, so here's a link to it: www.google.com/maps |
