Apologies! This is a day late - I was out on Monday with a sick kid at home.
A pink form is being sent home on Tuesday. In it, the Greening and Grounds committee at our school is asking for donations for a BBQ/Grilling themed basket. This is a fundraiser for teh garden. Here's what we're up to this week: French We are back to writing paragraphs of the week! This week, we are talking about our favourite characters from books. Students are encouraged to keep up their French reading at home (either their own choice of books, or their guided reading books). English We are learning about "silent" letters in English this week. I will update our vocabulary words of the week. We will also FINALLY start our book clubs. Maths We are moving into series in maths. Check out the math games below to practice!

Santé (Health) In preparation for our "Counsellor in the classroom" event, we will continue to talk about the role of Kids Help Phone. I will be out Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday this week for some appointments! Here's what we're up to: French In French, we will be working on how to write adjectives in "masculin/féminin" and "singulier/pluriel." Some students may need to take their work home to finish. Maths In maths, we will be working on finding the area of a rectangle. I'm excited to be having my first ever professional development day for art. I'm sure I'll be learning lots of new techniques. French This week, we are working on new vocabulary words (the sound "é."). Check out the Vocabulary Words of the Week for a list. We will keep going over adjectives, and continue our guided reading groups. English This week we will finish the "body" of our persuasive texts. I may ask some students to take their text home on Thursday if we are falling a bit behind. We will keep reviewing our r controled vowels. Maths On Monday, we are having our multiplication and division quiz. Please see below for a question from the quiz. After that, we will be starting to study area. In grade 4, students should be able to define area, measure it in centimetres and metres, and calculate the area of a rectangle. We will define Atlantic versus Maritimes, and talk about the capital cities of those provincines. |
