This week we will be looking at subtraction, and we'll start a new writing assignment. If you have any extra time, you can use Prodigy or any other math games on here. Here are a few videos in English to help out:

Hello everyone! I sent out an email to parents about the work this week. I'm learning more and more about how to use Google Classroom, but please continue to be patient with me as I'm not there yet! For those who are interested, here is a little art video made by another teacher in PEI. It's in English, but for those who miss art class it can be a lot of fun: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaPkYE2j0sE&fbclid=IwAR267NZQzUM-AQlTAAyAfSqaWm1wnuVomxUGEF__Glk-O_Ah8cScCskCmjs Keep doing your best this week, but don't worry if you can't get all the work done (or any of it!). I'm proud of you all!
Happy Easter everyone! It certainly feels like spring is in the air. I sent an email out to parents yesterday outlining this week's work. Please let me know if you aren't receiving them!
For those that signed up for the reading program, here is the link to the site: https://jelis-free.rkpublishing.com/student/ I sent the wrong one to a few parents (typical me), so you might have some log in issues. Don't be afraid to move around with levels. Do what is right for you! Here is a great series of videos in English that might help parents understand the math for the week(they're super quick - only about 45 seconds each) : Drawing and building numbers Hello all!
Instead of bombarding you all with emails and blog posts, I thought I'd just post my email of the week here (in case you need to reference it later). A few quick notes: - Thanks for all that you're doing. Parents are superstars, and this is not an easy time. I'm just looking for us to do what we can. If you can't go on to Google classroom every day, or if you can only do a bit, that's just fine. - There will be no lessons up this Friday or next Monday. It's Easter! Here's the email I sent out on Friday: Dear parents and guardians, By now, I’ve spoken to most of you on the phone. Next week we will “go live” with our online learning. I’ll be very honest - this will not be perfect! It has been a steep learning curve for me. With that, most of our learning will be taking place on Google Classroom. There are a few things up there already, and I encourage the students to practice logging in so that they’re comfortable. I don’t doubt that there will be a few wrinkles to iron out, so we will be taking things easy. The format will be one hour of instruction a day. This can be any time of day. I’ll try to have the lessons up by 10:00 am every day. For 15 minutes a day the kids will be working on math, and for the remaining 45 minutes they will be working on French language arts. When they log into Google Classroom, there will be lessons there for them. I’m not 100% sure how it will look, but I will try to make it as simple as possible. They will mostly be a video and maybe some games or writing. At the beginning of each week I’ll send parents an email to give you an idea of what your kids will be doing during the week. The students should be able to work on everything on their own, but it might be helpful to have an idea of what they’re doing. In an effort to reduce the amount of emails, I’ll let you know what I plan to cover for next week: Maths: N7 - division with remainder. We will start the week by reviewing simple division, then we’ll move into the new stuff. An example of division with remainder would be 18 ÷ 5 = 3 r 3. Here’s a link to a Youtube video that explains it in English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n7jt4JP3sc French language arts: We will be working a bit on our writing. I’ll be sharing examples with the students, but basically they will be writing to me (in French) about something they know. The kids will be writing to me through Google classroom, so I’ll be able to see what they’ve written and help them along. I suspect this might be a bit confusing at first, so I’ll be online as much as possible Monday to help out. Please be patient as this all rolls out! The coming weeks will get easier and easier as we get used to things. Take care, Jenn Salut! By now I should have spoken with most of you over the phone to go over what will be happening next week. Later on today (or tonight) I will try to send out a specific email with instructions. Although the kids will be using Google classroom, I encourage you all to keep checking here for news and for extras. Sara White, our music teacher, will be sharing a message later on today with you all. In the meantime, here are a few useful links: Sherwood Library Blog All students who were present the last day of school have already built their own accounts, but for those who weren't you can create one using the class code 7BEBCC Another reading app to try out. I believe it's only English, but I could be wrong!
Bonjour tout le monde!
I've been working on our lessons for next week. For those of you logging into Google classroom, you may have noticed a short video I posted. I'm going to try to post it here as well, just to see if I can: First video attempt Bonjour tout le monde! There's lots to go over today. I've been calling parents all morning to give out Google emails and passwords. This is to set things up for next week. I know that some of you already have your Google info. If this is the case I won't be calling. If I haven't reached you by tomorrow and you don't have this info, please comment here or email me and I'll contact you with it. I'm still not 100% clear on what next week will look like, but I will let you know ASAP. It's looking more and more like we'll be using Google classroom. I see that some kids have already been on. If you have your Google information, please take a moment to get on and give it a try. With that, here are a few links to guide you along the next few weeks: A Parent's Guide to Google Classroom GoNoodle - this is what we use in class! It should be free to set up Reading A-Z - This site is amazing, and has leveled books in both French and English Math Makes Sense - I already have this linked on the blog, but I thought I'd include it here. It's their math workbook in English. Some kids have their at home, but others don't. For those who are interested, we will be covering division next week. The pages in the notebook this corresponds to are pages 136-143. Remember that you are not required to do this! It's only extra if you'd like. Art Projects for Kids - I use this site all the time for art class. It's fantastic and super helpful.
