We are almost at winter holidays! It's going to be a fun week here at Sherwood. Instead of re-listing all the Sherwood events this week, please follow this link to our calendar: https://sherwood.edu.pe.ca/calendar French Most students have now handed in their French stories. I'm still waiting on a few, but those students can do them during free time this week. We will start a new round of reader's workshop. Some students are deciding whether or not they would like to work on a "play" for French. English This week we are concentrating on finishing our English stories. I am suggesting that some students take theirs home to make sure they have time to finish. Math On Monday we will be having our math evaluation. For the rest of the week, we will be working on reviewing everything we've seen so far. Keep checking the blog for games and activities. Social studies We are working on mapping this week. Students are learning how to map our routes to different communities of PEI. If you are visiting family during this week, you can help your child learn by pointing out the routes you take, how far it is, and how long it takes. Here is a question that will be on Monday's quiz:
Trouve la fraction de l'ensemble: ¼ de 16 This is the week to purchase candy grams! Each candy gram is 1$ and proceeds to to Christmas Families. They will be delivered on December 17. French This week, we are working on our French fairy tales. Students will be writing mostly in class, but I encourage them to work on them at home too. Also, we will be continuing our guided reading groups. Some students will be able to choose their books to bring home. English We are working on our last week of word work for 2021. We will be reforming the groups after Christmas to reflect our growth in this area. The words are all on Google classroom. Also, students will be working on their English stories (to be finished next week). Maths We have started decimals! Check out this worksheet: https://www.k5learning.com/free-math-worksheets/fifth-grade-5/fractions-decimals/fractions-to-decimals In grade four students need to be able to convert fractions with denominators of 10 or 100 into decimals (and vice versa).
Social studies We are continuing our study of mapping. This week we are playing around with Google Maps. |
