It's so hard to believe that June is just around the corner! We are still going full steam ahead in all areas! Note: I'm taking a few weeks off our vocabulary words so we can focus on larger grammatical concepts. French This week, we are working on our reader's workshop. I'm evaluating reading and hoping to get everyone as strong as possible before being evaluated. As always, practicing at home is the best way for students to get stronger at read. English Our English stories are due to be finished by Friday. We will have writer's workshop every day as we work towards this. Some students may want to work on their stories at home. We are also starting our Beverly Cleary author study. This is one of my favourite units - our books are ancient and well loved, but the students always enjoy this. The kids will be picking a Beverly Cleary book to read. Here's her official site to get everyone pumped up: https://www.beverlycleary.com/ Social studies Check out Google classroom for our social studies project. The students are creating a Google Slide on a province or territory. Maths We are working on equations this week! This can be challenging. Here's a practice site that goes over it: https://ca.ixl.com/math/grade-4/solve-variable-equations

I'm very late this week, so to help out, I'm going to put up the next two weeks of work! French We are working on our nitty gritty grammar stuff. This means we're working on sentence structure, and perfecting our spelling. Here's a page with a review that goes over it all. There are some games at the end: https://www.alloprof.qc.ca/fr/eleves/bv/francais/les-classes-de-mots-f1178 As always, getting lots of practice in French reading is really helpful. Telling time on analog clocks is an important skill. Here is a worksheet to practice: https://turbulus.com/eveil/heures/84-heure5 Social studies
We are going to start a little Canadian geography project. It will be in French, but the students will be creating a Google slide to show some element of Canadian geography. It might be a province or territory, a Great Lake, a body of water, or a famous Canadian city. We'll be getting started next week, but I thought I'd mention it here. I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! Here is what we'll be up to this week: French Our centers are in French this week. As a result, all students will be getting a book to read in French during the week. In grammar, we will start working on homophones (words that sound the same, but are spelled differently). It is a very short chapter, so I anticipate us being finished by the end of the week. Instead of a quiz, we will have a final project that will be introduced on Friday. Here is a game that helps you practice measuring area: https://toytheater.com/area-climber/ Sciences
