Bonjour tout le monde! Here's what we're up to this week: Français In French, we are starting our paired French writing. This is a student choice project, which means that they can choose whether or not to write with some, and they can choose their writing genre. We are finishing this in two weeks. This will very likely require some writing at home, but students will be asked to manage their time appropriately. Last week we worked on passé composé. This is a tough one! Next year students are learning about passé composé avec l'auxillaire être. This comes up so much in their every day speech that I thought I'd include a little extra here. It's a general guide with some activities: Passé composé English It's English vocabulary words this week! This time, I've put them up on Google Classroom. You child can work on them from home (it's under "Word Work.") We are also continuing to write out stories in English. Some students are falling a bit behind, and they are welcome to work on them from home for a bit if that helps. We are continuing to read City of Ember. We will be having a quiz this Thursday on multiplication and division. Here's some games to help you practice: One digit times three digit multiplication game We started division today, and it was a bit challenging. We will be seeing a lot more of it, but here's an English video that explains the concepts.

Every morning each team will have a different activity to work on: lecture guidée, journal de bord, géographie, makers cart, and word work. Students will also be looking at passé composé. Some students are bringing books home to read, and all students are welcome to practice their French reading at home. We have a wonderful class library that they are welcome to borrow books from. English This week, we will be reading chapters 8 and 9 in City of Ember. Here's a youtube of them: Chapter 8 We will also be continuing in our writing workshop. Students are writing stories, and the conventions we will be concentrating on are dialogue, commas, and apostrophes. We will also be focusing our individual word work. Students in active guided reading have new books to read in their book bags. We will continue to work on our French stories. Here's what we'll be up to this week: French - We will be writing our "Monster" texts and bringing them to a good copy - Our vocabulary words this week are French.
