French
In French this week, we are looking to finish a rough copy of our opinion letters. Some students may need to do some extra work at home so they stay on track. We will contact any parents if we send work home! Also, guided reading is starting back up. Students are encouraged to pick out books from their "bacs" and read at home. English We are continuing to read "City of Ember." Students will also be doing lessons on rhyming words, and continuing to write in their journals. We are doing one more week with our vocabulary words in English so we know we can master them. Maths We are finishing up with multiplication and moving on to division! We have a few things going on this week. First of all, it's Earth Week. Check the video posted in the previous post to study bird calls.
Also, remember that we are going to the Confederation Center on Wednesday! Don't forget to bring a packed lunch - we will not be at the school for hot lunches. There is no school on Friday for students - teachers will be in professional development that day. French We are continuing to work on our opinion letters this week. Some students may need to bring their letters home to make sure they have enough details. Also, students can read in French each night so that they have lots to write about. English In English, we are reading City of Ember. Some students are also in guided reading and can practice their books at home. Check out Google Classroom to see our words for the week. Maths We are multiplying one digit times three digits. Please keep sending in your tickets and the slip that says you saw your child's report card. Also, we are going to have a grade 4 movie afternoon on Friday. More details to come! Students are writing about their favourite French books, so the best way to prepare for that is to read in French at home. A reminder that students are permitted to take home class library books if they need to. English We are continuing to read "City of Ember." We will also continue with last week's word work words. Head over to Google Classroom if you'd like some extra practice. Math This week, we are looking at multiplying one digit times two to three digit numbers. Did our design work? If not, how can we improve it? We have a pajama day this Tuesday! Please feel free to bring a stuffed animal with you, but leave the blankets home this time. Also, report cards will be sent home on Thursday. French We are starting our French persuasive texts on Tuesday. Students will be writing about their favourite books in French. Also, we are working on "les 8 classes de mots". The following activity is a little advanced, but if you scroll to the bottom there are some practice activities on how to identify the different kinds of words in French. English In English, we are working on Word Work. Check out Google classroom to practice (I'll try to update the "Vocabulary Words of the Week" as soon as possible). We are also continuing to read "City of Ember." Some students are starting guided reading in English and will have some books to practice at home. Maths We are finally doing long multiplication!
