A reminder that we have our Remembrance Day assembly this Friday! Students should come to school dressed in dark pants/skirts and white tops (if possible!). French We will be working on our French reading this week. This will be our last week in our fairy tales unit. We will also take a look at figurative language in French, as well as French expressions. Here's a website that explains figurative versus literal language: www.francaisfacile.com/exercices/exercice-francais-2/exercice-francais-75406.php English We have new English words this week - they are long "i" words. We are also working on a "paragraph of the week" writing piece. Check out the "vocabulary words of the week" to see the words we are working on. Maths We are continuing our work on fractions this week. We will look at fractions of a set, and fractions on a number line. Fractions of a set can be really challenging! Here's an extra activity to practice: www.superteacherworksheets.com/fractions/fractions-of-groups1_TWMBD.pdf Science In science this week we are looking at food webs and animal adaptations. Provided the cold weather hasn't killed all the insects, we will observe some bugs and look at their different ways of feeding. I'll be using parts of the following set. It's in English, and there are a lot of extra activities in it: www.maine.gov/dacf/php/integrated_pest_management/school-ipm-curricula/elementary/documents/Teachers_Booklet.pdf
