I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! Here is what we'll be up to this week: French Our centers are in French this week. As a result, all students will be getting a book to read in French during the week. In grammar, we will start working on homophones (words that sound the same, but are spelled differently). Here are some places to practice homophones: https://www.ccdmd.qc.ca/media/homo_recap_32Homophones.pdf English We have English vocabulary words this week. Students can find them on Google classroom. We will also be keeping up with our reading of City of Ember. Here are some videos of the chapters: Chapter 16 We will also work on finishing up our revision of our English stories. I may ask some students to take their work home to finish up. Maths In math we are going to keep on trucking in area measurement. It is a very short chapter, so I anticipate us being finished by the end of the week. Instead of a quiz, we will have a final project that will be introduced on Friday. Here is a game that helps you practice measuring area: https://toytheater.com/area-climber/ Sciences
We are working on our erosion project this week! Students need to design a barrier on a model of a coastline. This barrier needs to be natural and help prevent erosion. I'll introduce the kids to it on Monday! Social studies We are continuing our mapping units. This week we are working on rivers, lakes, and oceans of Canada. We will learn about the major waterways of Canada and where they are located, but we will also learn about the importance of fresh water and how to protect it. Here is a video of the amazing water protector Autumn Pelletier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqdE_7OZaqE
