October is going fast, and I'm so impressed with how hard everyone is working! Well done! Math After our Monday evaluation, we will finally be starting addition and subtraction. We have already been working on our mental calculations, but we will start to put pencil on paper. This week will mostly be addition. In Grade 4, students are expected to be able to add three digit plus three digit numbers (with some regrouping). We will start with some two digit addition to get us going. Extra practice in this is always helpful, so here is a worksheet for anyone who is interested: Two-digit plus two-digit addition with some regrouping French
We will continue with our reader's and writer's workshop with a focus on fairy tales. If you would like to practice your read aloud, going to last week's links on fairy tales will help. We are also working on grammar concepts such as nouns and adjectives. Here's a game to practice identifying adjectives: Identifier les adjectifs English We are working on reader's and writer's workshop in both these areas. Everyone will be receiving new English vocabulary words. I'll put the lists up on the "Vocabulary words of the week" tab on the blog if anyone would like to practice at home. Sciences We are continuing our work on Habitats. We will be identifying food webs around the school. If anyone would like to learn more, here is a great Bill Nye video: Bill Nye - Food Chains and Food Webs
