What a weekend! There have been some changes made to our mask policies, which I'm sure you are aware of. If you'd like to review, please follow the link: https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/news/updated-guidelines-mask-use-schools Report cards are going home this week! I'm so proud of everyone and the tough work they've done. French In French this week, we are working hard on writing our texts. Please remember to visit Google Classroom if you need a reminder on what to do. We are also working on French vocabulary words. I've updated the "Vocabulary Words of the Week" to reflect this. English We are starting book clubs! This will all be accomplished at school, but the theme of the book clubs is the environment. Here are a few videos that give great info on how kids can help the environment. Plastic in our oceans (warning - this video has some upsetting scenes of animals harmed by ocean plastics): National Geographic Math
On Wednesday, we will finally be having our addition and subtraction evaluation. Reviewing these concepts at home will be really helpful. Check here on Tuesday for a question from the quiz. Social Studies Mapping skills! This is a fun one. We are learning all about the map of PEI. If you're taking any road trips this week (say, for a hockey game or to visit a relative at another end of the Island), talk to your child about what direction you're going in (north, south, east, west), what communities you're seeing, and what bodies of water you may pass (ie rivers, Northumberland Strait, etc). Talk about how many kilometres it takes to get there, and if you know anything about the particular communities you're visiting. Here's a link to different maps of PEI. One of my favourites is the first one - aerial maps of communities taken through the years. It's fun to try and find your own community and look at how it's changed. Government Maps of PEI
