We have book fair this week! Our purchasing day will be on Wednesday. French This week, we are looking at identifying all the parts of a phrase. Most of this will be a review, but here's a page to practice with: www.alloprof.qc.ca/fr/eleves/bv/francais/les-classes-de-mots-f1178 We are also going to be looking at a model text and looking for "beaux mots." These are beautiful words that we love writing and saying. One way to find beautiful words is to look for synonyms. Here is a synonym dictionary: www.synonymes.com/ English We are going to be really diving into our word work this week. Please check out "Vocabulary Words of the Week" at the top of the blog to find your words. One of the groups will be working on the long "o" sound. Here is an easy activity that shows some of them: www.freewordwork.com/wp-content/pdf/phonics/long%20o%20worksheets.pdf Maths We have been working really hard on multiplication and division. Towards the end of the week we will be diving back into some tough stuff, but at the beginning of the week we will just review and play a bit. On Monday, we are looking at pentominoes. Here is an online version: www.transum.org/Maths/Activity/Jigsaw/Pentominoes.asp Sciences We are looking at rocks and minerals in science. Our two goals this week are to understand how our mostly sedimentary rock island causes issues with erosion, and to understand the difference between a mineral and a rock. The teacher who came up with the activity is way more fun than me, but maybe some of you would like to try it at home: www.talesfromoutsidetheclassroom.com/3-rock-cycle-activities/
