A reminder that there is no school this Friday due to parent teacher interviews! Here's what we are up to this week: French In French, we will work on our reading groups. We will also start "Noémie: le secret de Madame Lumbago." We will look at examples of figurative language in French, and start learning some French expressions. Here's a fun little link of quebecois expressions: www.je-parle-quebecois.com/lexique/definition/expression-quebecoise.html English In English, we will be working on r-controlled vowels. Check out our "Vocabulary Words of the Week." We will also be learning about onomatopeia and looking at some examples in the media. Speaking of the media, this week (in both French and English), we will be looking at how to view media with a critical eye. Students will look at some tricks advertisers use, and how to determine if something they see on tv or on the internet is true. I'll be starting with this classic commercial: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TijcoS8qHIE Maths In math, we are continuing to look at long multiplication. We have gone through a number of strategies, and this week we will be moving up to one digit times three digits. Here's a worksheet students can use to practice: www.liveworksheets.com/w/en/math/505756 Social Studies We will finally be starting social studies! Students will begin by learning how to read a map, then studying the map of PEI. At one point we will look at Google Maps to find our homes, our schools, and to explore other locations.
