I hope everyoe enjoyed their Thanksgiving weekend! In math this week, we are finishing up our unit on number sense. There will be an evaluation next Monday. They should be comfortable with the following key concepts (I'm writing them in French since that is how they learned them): blocs, forme développée/décomposée, valeur de position, tableau de valeur de position, écrire les numéros en lettres, représenter les nombres, comparer les nombres. To prepare, your child can practice their "nombre du jour" and work on this sheet: https://www.math-drills.com/numbersense/comparing_numbers_to_10000_si_001.php In Science, we are working on a mystery! We are trying to identify the skull of a mammal. The kids have worked on it in class, but learning about mammals can help their knowledge. Here is one of the sites we were looking at (remember those "Hinterlad's Who's Who videos?) : https://www.hww.ca/fr/faune/mammiferes/ We are learning about fairy tales in Frech. Practicing reading in French at home is a great way to improve, but I understand that it can be difficult to find French books. I am still waiting to hear back about an online source, but in the meantime here is a website with French fairy tales: https://short-edition.com/fr/categorie/tres-tres-court/contes-merveilleux We're starting our writer's workshop in English. For those who would like extra practice, they can work on a journal at home. Allowing your child to write what they want is a great way to help them develop a love of writing.
