Another short week - October really flies! I've been sitting with students to figure out their reading levels in French. This means that I'll soon be able to start guided reading. With that in mind, some students will be bringing home books to practice (if time allows). I'll let you know if your child will be bringing home books. French This week, we are working on adjectives. We have three objectives: we should be able to identify them, we should be able to convert them to their feminine form, and we should be able to convert them to their plural form. Here's a little guide to converting adjectives to feminine. There is a link for practice at the bottom: fr.tsedryk.ca/grammaire/adjectif/adj_fem.htm I am hoping to get start guided reading this week. We will be studying fairy tales.
English In English, we are starting to study long a words. Check out "Vocabulary words of the week." I've posted the list there. Students can use their word work strategies to study the words. We are also continuing our study of narratives. In writing we are working on our stories. Students are welcome to take these home to work on. Maths We are starting addition! In grade 4, students should be able to add three digit plus three digit numbers together. They should also have an array of estimation strategies. Below is a worksheet for them to practice, but on Thursday I'll be also posting a series of games. www.math-drills.com/addition/addition_all_regrouping_3digit_001.php
